Woman in Gold

Just in time to anticipate our upcoming trip to Budapest, Vienna & Prague is this new movie "Woman in Gold" released today in theatres nationwide.  Helen Mirren stars, along with Ryan Reynolds and Katie Holmes, in this movie based on the true story of Maria Altmann's attempts to retrieve family possessions seized 60 years earlier in Nazi Vienna during World War II.

We will be seeing artist Gustav Klimt's paintings on our trip! This one is covered with elaborate gold leafing, which is as much as a quarter-inch think in places, and was re-created for the film.

UPDATE: Grant & I saw Woman in Gold this past weekend. Watching this reminds you of the troubling history for the people in Eastern Europe during the cruel Nazi era. The scenery is beautiful with cinematography that made me feel I was there....which made it even more poignant, as we will be there in little over a month and able to see Klimt paintings up close and personal.
